Like all MMOs, after the initial free month of included time (not really free if you think about it), the huge surge of players that lead to the need for server queues dropped off.
And with the plethora of servers available we ended up with veritable ghost towns.
This being a problem when on a PvP server wanting to pwn people.

Of course this doesn’t take in to account the number of people using exploits, which were driving people to PvE. Exploits which just weren’t being addressed.

Major issues and bugs kept cropping up, but none of them were getting fixed.
New content was promised, and what we’ve received has been fairly lackluster, as well as being very buggy.

Of course what’s really happened that will kill this game is major security breaches have happened, first with the PlayStationNetwork, and now with SOE.
Breach 1 happened, we got informed that everything was fine and there was no problem with SOE and our information was secure since it’s in a different location. This shook our confidence.
Breach 2 happened, and we’re informed around 24.6million user’s information may now be out in the wild, as well as over twelve thousand user’s direct debit and credit card information.

It may not be a lot in terms of things, but come on close to 25 million people?
And there’s a good chance I’m one of those people.

So naturally I do the obvious thing and try to cancel my subscription, but I can’t get in to do that.
I doubt anyone can.
The game’s also down for however long, and apparently we’re going to be granted 30 + 1(each day service is unavailable) days of free play time. Somehow to me, and no doubt many others, this isn’t enough.

So the short of it is this, when I can end my account I will. It’s too much of a security risk.
DC Universe Online is a low grade product, and can’t compare with much else out there.
It’s just not worth the time or money any more.

Basically Arena.net have learned from Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall and implemented all the best things together for the first true expansion.

The way to Eye of the North involves going through a fissure outside of Lion’s Arch, having a brief run in with some creatures named Destroyers who are revealed as antagonists. Then you have to trek to the Eye, from there the storyline branches into 3 paths, all required. One with the ex-ascalonian Vanguard, another with the intriguing race known as the Asura (I have a mini-pet of one,) and the final path with a giant-like race known as the Norn.
Only the Norn path is open till next week-end.

As for heroes, well there are quite a few it seems, and no longer do we have to make sure they’re in our party if needed for a cut-scene or some such, they’re assumed to have been travelling with you in a party.
So far I’ve collected a dwarven monk, an asuran elementalist, an ascalonian mesmer and a norn warrior.

As for the so called Hall of Monuments, it only begins with 1 tapestry within it’s walls which works with title tracks, the other tapestries are quest rewards and such, giving you the option to customise mini-pets, display armour and weapons and even heroes if you’ve upgraded their armour.
All in all very cool and I look forwards to seeing how this will be integrated towards Guild Wars 2 next year.

Anyway now I’ve said all this, it’s 10am and I think I should finally sleep for like 4 hours so I can get back to playing GWEN some more. A very sleepless weekend indeed.

Of course that’s not all I’ve been doing. Even played a few hours of GuildWars earlier tonight. I had no idea there were repeatable quests, how odd.

Had me some good pasta just before.

But when the bandwidth ticks over I’ll know it and will be able to catch up on things I should have had by now, but haven’t due to being shaped the last week or so.

About 2 and a half hours after I posted this, internet got uncapped… for the win!

It is made of Gold and Win.

I’ll have to wait to see what opening weekend figures are like, but for now I can safely say I’ve never seen cinemas packed out like that for any other movie in the past 7 years.

I’ve also never seen an audience applaud a movie before, a common thing for this one from everything I’ve heard so far.

Oh and the transformers are tanked up killing machines, and people do actually die.

As someone who grew up playing with the original toys, I am much satisfied by this film.

I urge anyone thinking of going to see it, buy your tickets early, and see it ASAP.
